Superintendent

Job Description: manages/leads multiple earth moving and/or utilities crews by providing them with basic project planning, coordination, sequencing, and site utilization.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with engineers and the general superintendent to determine specifications of the project and develop a complete scope of work with benchmarks.
  • Ability to read and understand all site plans for all projects.
  • Assists in the review and response of RFI, Shop Drawings, Product Data and any other document required for the successful completion of the project.
  • Acquire equipment and material and monitor stocks to timely handle inadequacies.
  • Determine needed resources (human capital, equipment, and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations.
  • Plan all construction operations (erosion, earth moving, wet utilities, and dry utilities) and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be met with approval by the General Superintendent and/or Director of Operations.
  • Supervise the work of laborers, operators, supervisors, and mechanics and give them guidance.
  • Assists the General Superintendent in the review of the Value of Schedule and in the approval of subcontractor monthly pay applications.
  • Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports through various software products, weekly production meetings, and ensure that all foreman are reporting using the same methods.
  • Verifies that the document control process for all addenda, ASI’s and Drawing Revisions are kept to date on the field working drawing set. Provides overview that the process is ongoing and current.
  • Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues through software applications with accident reports, safety meetings, disciplinary action reports, and equipment inspections.
  • Reviews memos and minutes for meetings associated with the projects.

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Proven experience leading and managing large scale of projects at the same time
  • Ability to read and understand all construction plans and explain, in detail how to achieve the goals of those plans, to all foreman and the related team, the work schedule that is needed to complete the plans
  • Expert level knowledge of construction procedures and material and project management principles
  • Expert level knowledge health and safety standards
  • Expert level knowledge of construction/ project management software
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • A team player with leadership abilities
  • Prefer OSHA 30 certification
  • Prefer BS/BA in engineering, building science or relevant field

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk/communicate and receive information verbally. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk expansive project sites (rough terrain). The employee must regularly lift and/or move 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
